Any advice for a decent bike for cycling La Rochelle to Santander?

Will be a bit uphill but not too much.

Budget as low as possible, would like it be under under 500.
Even lower if possible, I will look at second hand if available.

    Thank you

Are you sticking to the road (tarmac) or trails or a mixture. From memory there are quite a lot of coastal paths you can use north of Biarritz which may not be entirely suitable for a road bike.

Have you currently got a bike? What kind of experience do you have. Are you carrying your own gear? Will you be camping, staying in hotels, having your gear transported etc. How many kms a day to you hope to do? What time of the year are you going?

About 700 kms so needs a bit of planning

Supposed to be fairly hilly for the Basque section coming into Santander

It's not flat for sure but easier than rest of journey to/from Santiago.

Tough enough spin for a newbie touring but spread it out and you'll be grand

If you are PAYE worker you can maybe get bike to work scheme and almost double your budget??

How are you travelling? Decathlon purchase over there might save in sports gear fares on the outbound.
