External Insulation

Just wondering if anyone has had external insulation fitted to their house and if so, what was the cost and was it worth it? I see there is a €6000 grant for a detached house so I'm guessing it's not cheap.

I was quoted 10k for a mid terrace - the grant really distorts costs as realistically every cent of a grant becomes profit for the provider; if the grant vanished the price would drop by that much immediately.

Not really specific to the Donegal forum so I'll move it to a more appropriate forum

    Following with interest...

I live in a bungalow on the hill up on the Derry side of Grianan Fort. Constant cold wind. House is a pain to heat.

A 6k Euro grant for external / solid wall insulation? How and where?

After years abroad, I well know external is the way to go, but I've just been quoted 10+ to do my bungalow. (140m2)
They said would take their four man team just two weeks, but when I looked up material costs, that came to just 3.5k.

3.5k ... I priced the acrylic render Element recently and it was more than that for a 1/4 of the area.

First post: if you are not trolling maybe set out exactly what you can get for 3,5k c/w relevant certifications

4 men for 2 weeks I would expect to have to pay 8000 euro. So there is your labour. Does this make sense?
