Not sure where you are located but I bought a mcm quad trailer from West cork trailers if that's a bit closer to you. Sound lad to deal with.

Just wondering what’s the build quality like ? Would they be as good as Ifor, nugent , aerlite etc. be using it behind a car for turf, sheep, general jobs

Aerlite are scrap as are ifor. i bought a new nugent before christmas and while its ok some of the little things arent great and a lot weaker trailer than they used to be. If you have the patience to wait buy a porter, your kids can leave it to their kids, fierce well made.

Why don't you rate Ifor, would have thought they were one of the best out there? Never heard of Porter but look good on website if fairness. I'm guessing they're expensive they way you say he might have to wait to buy one?

I’ve an 8x5 mcm tandem axle 4 stud, with removable mesh sides. Lovely trailer to pull. I wanted a trailer that I could switch from tailboard to mesh ramp for loading quad etc. I’ve used it to move 1.5 ton mini digger few times too, but mesh ramp prob is bit too weak to handle it, once loaded it was fine. Bought it in Longford from duignan motors.
    Likes...good sturdy steel mudguards.
Dislikes.. no protection for rear lights.

    I have porter cattle trailer.
Porter trailer to hold quad and an Ifor tipper.
    The porter is the daddy.
Only problem I have with the porter is the ribbed sides are hard to clean without a pressure washer but we have it 14 years and it's like day.
If I was buying another new cattle trailer it would be a porter.

Everything is pop riveted and jointed in bits now, I think a lot has to do with getting them dipped. They start falling apart nearly straight away and get very rattly. The porter are around the same price as Nugent but there’s a waiting list.

Have a nugent 8*5 single axle here with ramp and mesh sides. Galvanised with led lights.

It’s a nice trailer to tow, well balanced and easy reversed, sturdy built, very strong for a single axle trailer.

I have an 8 * 4 MCM trailer about 2 years now. Double axle, mesh sides and ramp etc. I did a lot of research before buying it, and I am very happy with it. It is very heavy duty, not a tin box like some of the trailers you see. I got LED lights put onto it instead of the normal lights, and I got them to put protective wire covers over them.

Very happy with it, and I’d happily recommend it to all.
