Getting kitchen retiled. Base is a concrete floor but there are uneven patches probably about 1-3mm in depth.

How level does the subfloor need to be? My boyfriend thinks it'll be fine cos there's no big dips etc

Use floor leveling compound. Make sure all loose debris and dust is clean. Can fill all in level off.

Probably doesn't need doing. But if you can see the difference it's a lot bigger than a couple of mill. Get a level and measure it.

All that will happen if it's not level is more adhesive will have to be used to fill the dips. If you use a lot, the floor will crack, which breaks tiles.

Depending on what levelling compound you got you usually clean the concrete, put down a primer and if the dips are more than 3mm you add a latex additive.

Get your tiler to look at it, if he's seen it already and said nothing. It's fine.

I can echo this. Your tiler should know!
