    Hi,

I booked a flight with Aer Lingus through Kiwi.com. If I add a 20kg checked bag through Kiwi its 66 euro but if I add a bag through aer lingus its 40 euro. Is there any way to book through aer lingus. I cant seem to find a booking reference on my kiwi email?

Im sure (hoping) everything goes smoothly but I noticed when I logged into aer lingus account the payment is from the CEO of kiwi.com credit card and not my own. And also when the added luggage was amended an updated email was sent to a kiwi email address. I suppose thats how these 3 party systems work.

Slightly off topic but €40 one-way for a checked bag is absolutely extortionate!!
I think even Ryanair have reduced their prices....Aer Lingus need to get a grip:(

Even more off topic: I checked some prices for flights on kiwi.com and then checked the prices for the same flights on the airline's website. They charge at least 20 EUR more for a return flight. It seems it is not only the luggage that cost more.

Aer Lingus charge crazy prices for checked bags! Ryanair is actually better now for checked baggage prices. I often have to avoid flying Aer Lingus if I want to check bags as it adds so much onto the cost.

With Lufthansa, the classic fare which costs a flat rate of €20 more than the light fare for European flights, includes a 23kg checked bag and seat reservations.

For example to Athens, which EI categorises as a 'far' route. A 20kg bag costs €55 each way and a seat reservation costs €10 each way so the total cost is €130.
For Ryanair the same costs around €90 depending on which seat you choose.
With Lufthansa the classic fare costs only €40 extra return. And you get 3kg more and some rebooking flexibility.

    Ridiculous, isn't it?!
I am going to Lisbon next month and I made the mistake of booking Aer Lingus over Ryanair.....won't be caught making a similar mistake in future if travelling with checked luggage again
Where is the justification anyway in charging extra for destinations that are deemed "mid" or "far"? It's disgusting.
