What Phone Should I Get?

Looking to get a new phone. I want an edge to edge display and the best possible camera.

    Will be going billpay.

I’m currently thinking about the S9+, Note 8, P20 Pro.

    What would you suggest?

I’m currently using an iPhone but finally looking to switch to Android.

The Note is in the list because Virgin were selling it for €279 + €60pm.

However, when I contacted them they said that price was reserved for people that already used Virgin services and that I would have to go through a credit check but either way I would probably end up paying €579 which is a load of balls.

I’m also open to going with any carrier.

I thought about holding out for the OnePlus 6 but I’m not sure how good their cameras are.

The Pixel 2 would be awesome but don’t want to spend that amount outright (that’s why I’m thinking of going bill - to offset it over the contract)

The S8+ did cross my mind too but the fact that I’ll be locking myself into a 24 month contract, I’d like to get the newest piece of tech right now.

As an aside, has the Razer camera improved enough with software updates since launch. Although not edge to edge, I like that it looks very unique as well as that 120 display. Waste of an investment though?

Just looking online there, you can get the Razer for €29. Is the camera really that bad?

I mean, I’m using an iPhone 6S Plus and if you were to compare it today’s top end smartphones, it’s considered terrible. However, I love the photo quality. Similar with the Razer?

Only you can make the decision. There are so many decent phones these days. You just need to weigh up what is most important to you.

FWIW, I have the Note 8 atm, and 7 months in I'm not already looking out for my next device (very rare for me). That said, I would find it hard to commit to a 2 year contract on a phone that is already more than 6 months old.

There is no perfect device. No matter which one you get, it will have some shortcomings. Just make sure they aren't deal-breakers for you.

Try the S8 / S8+. Camera not as good as S9 but otherwise one of the top phones around and good value.

There is a new Google phone coming soon.

IV gone away from high end phones more into battery life
Redmi 5 plus 2 day battery IV even got into a 3rd day. Does all the high end phones do at 200 euro I can't tell and difference on the pictures from the gf s8 and can't justify the cost anymore

The p20 pro is meant to have a good battery /spec
Id only get the newest if I was going bill like s9 p20 etc

How about the Sony Xperia XZ2?
It has a great camera and battery, but display not as big as the others

Sony phones have had poor cameras for years. If camera is important, there's much better options.

I haven't heard that sony cameras havent been good, a lot of smartphone makers like apple have sony camera sensors in them.
I have been using the flagship xperias for the last few years and always get very good camera shots with them.
Should be getting the Xperia XZ2 soon, so i can comment on that, when i get it

We all have different opinions but I couldn't fault a Samsung galaxy.. got 4 years out of an s4. Now got s7. Both has excellent cameras..the s4 had very little storage. But s7 streets ahead.. I'm a mechanic and never had issues.my. oh
Had a Sony Xperia z1 and it was total crap. Then she had I phone 5 &6. Only fair. My old s4 camera was way better. So she's back to Samsung galaxy s6 edge & no issues with 2 years..

If I were the op I'd go galaxy s8/9 or latest I phone.. anything else ain't at the races. And they might look super in the phone shop &even get mighty reviews but only time owning and using one tells the true test. Oh and don't forget to protect whatever you get with a good case with a built in screen protector
