Gremlins 3

I've longed for another Gremlins movie for years. Something dark like the original and with no cheapy looking CGI...

Chris Columbus, the writer of the original film, has finished writing GREMLINS 3 according to /Film
“I’m really proud of the script,” Columbus said. “It is as twisted and dark as anything, so we’ll see. It’s always a budgetary conversation when we’re going to shoot it. I wanted to go back to the really twisted sensibility of the first movie. I found that was a very easy place for me to fall back into and start writing again so hopefully we’ll see that movie soon.”

Gremlins fans are also worried that a new film would use CGI gremlins in place of the puppets. Columbus assured fans the film would still use puppets, but visual effects could make puppetry easier to achieve than it was in 1984.

“Oh, without a doubt, minimal CGI,” Columbus said. “CGI will enable us to remove wires and make the puppeteers lives a little easier. It was brutal. It was like a marathon every night for those guys. In the bar scene alone there were 18 [or] 20 people behind the bar. No one had any space to move. It was just hellish for those guys so CGI will simplify that a little bit but it’s all puppets.”

Gremlins 3 is now in development at Warner Brothers.

The original has great memories for me, watched it again at Christmas and still love it. Bizzarely the first time I saw it was in the 80s on a projector in the school hall, in bloody primary school! Can you imagine now a bunch of kids ranging from junior infants upwards being sat down to watch it? Only conclusion is that the projectionist at the time, our school caretaker, saw a photo of Gizmo and deemed it appropriate.

Is this new news? Thought I read similar ages ago. Hopefully it is new, loved both gremlins films. Phoebe Cates was a big draw in my youth though! :)

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

Don't know anyone who didn't like Gremlins. Hopefully they make a good 3. Sounds positive anyway.

This is in my head now :)

Check out Krampus. I got a real Gremlins vibe from it when I watched it. Loads of fun.

At least it's not another bloody prequel (yet anyway)

Lets hope they make 'Murray Futterman' the President of the United States in this. The original 'Make Merica Great Again' man

Same experience here. There must be a whole generation of people knocking around who saw the original movie in a school PE hall.
