    Hi All,

Anyone here use a VPN service? Is it just to ensure total privacy of web browsing?

Does it circumvent geographic browser blocks in terms of web access - like BBC iplayer?

Does it get around ISP server blocks to torrent sites (hypothetically) - Just to have the question answered? :)

What the best/most popular VPN service out there?

    Thanks!

Great FAQ on Reddit here: https://www.reddit.com/r/VPN/wiki/index

    I use ProtonVPN : https://protonvpn.com/

It's free, but only for 3 countries. There are other subscription rates / offers.

Windscribe is good, 50GB free per month and a dozen or so countries.

I also find Windscribe fairly good. But got 60GB a month from a deal on Bargain Alerts on here :P

Do find I have problems with it on BBCi player now and again but can't fault it in general.

I use hotspot shield and it seems to work great. 15 quid a month but it doesn't throttle my internet at all, no adds and I can choose which country so its handy for US netflix and BBC iplayer. I don't even notice it running in the background

Not the pc, but depending on which server you connect to your d/l speed will
    be slower.

It was a special offer listed in Bargain Alerts

Not sure if it's still available though.

Thanks. No, unfortunately neither 50 or 60 GB codes work at this stage. I'll be keeping an eye out anyway :)

Windscribe is good. But I've heard that its live chat or customer support irritates a lot. They reply really late.

Could anyone recommend which VPN works with Netflix US? I was excited about Windscribe but unfortunately it won't work :( Thanks

I use private Internet access but it does not help with access to international versions of Netflix or BBC. It's not what I wanted it for so not bothered.

I thought Netflix had managed to put an end to any access via VPN.

I know Netflix had managed to block most of VPNs, hoping some of them still work though - I would be happy with even one ;)

ProtonVPN for downloads (Christ, who uses torrents these days when we have wonderful streamers such as <SNIP> or <SNIP>) and TOR for all illegal stuff. As in VPN + TOR (TOR itself is crackable, not as such but as in comparison of traffic on enter/exit nodes).

Do not do anything illegal and if you use it for kiddie porn - burn in hell.

Been using Protonmail since all the scandals about privacy and spying. Never had an issue with it. Must give their VPN a go.

Right guys I'm locking this thread as it has gone off on a tangent discussing how to use VPN to avoid geoblocking restrictions and also pirate content. Such discussion isn't allowed here as it is against the rules and could potentially land boards in trouble.
