Kerosene Nozzle Change

Having occasional/intermittent ignition problems with an old (1999) Grant 50/70 Kerosene boiler and Riello TDB 484T50 burner. The problem is probably my own fault for running the oil tank too low, and is less frequent following a tank refill.

I'm planning to bleed/prime the kerosene feed and put in a new nozzle to try and improve things. In doing so, I noticed a discrepancy in the currently installed nozzle compared to the one on the 1999 installation/commissioning label. Label indicates a .6/60 Deg/EH nozzle, but the boiler is currently fitted with a .55/80 Deg/S type, presumably on some service visit pre-dating our ownership. I understand the differences, and am at a loss to know why such a different nozzle to the original would have been fitted in the first place. Any reason why it should have changed, and if I put in a new nozzle, is it wise to go back to .6/60/EH?

    Paul

its probably not the nozzle that's causing your issues

at a guess I would think capacitor or possibly photocell or maybe fuel pump

always best to go with manf spec re nozzles

but without the proper test equipment ie pressure gauge flugas analyser I would not recommend you go at the combustion settings on your boiler

    Basically
    Get a good service engineer.

But most diyers won't as they think it's just a case of fitting the right nozzle LOL
