Hi. We recently renovated a house very much diy but we forgot to install antenna sockets. We have a tv up and running sky in our living room (they installed it) but now we want to set up a TV in our bedroom to just use saorview how can we do this with no aerial or cable coming into the room? Our saorview mast is 40km away so think internal antenna is out of the question. Open to all suggestions

We don’t have an aerial and recently bought “rabbit ears” in power city. They are working fine and only €25.
We live in South Dublin though so maybe we are lucky with the reception.
The alternative for us was to use a splitter and run cables (which I really didn’t want).

You could also get something like a firestick but you won’t get Irish channels.

Ask around what your neighbours are doing maybe an antenna in the attic might be enough, you might need a mast head amp too. Did you put in any Cat 6 cable?

It's an old house that was renovated only family houses nearby that have Aerials on chimneys

You know what to do then. Get an aerial installed on the chimney.

I assume you're aware that Saorview is just the RTE, TV3, & TG4 channels &, in most of the country you'll need a connection to the dish (& a satellite box if the TV doesn't have a built in sat. tuner) for free UK TV?

I wouldn't rule out getting satisfactory reception with a set-top aerial: I'd try to place it in or near a window facing the transmitter (& would help if the bedroom is higher than ground floor).
