Fiat Punto question

    My wifes 2006 Punto 46000km has developed a rattle under the bonnet.Our local garageman said it was from the catylthic converter and to put her through the NCT asap.....she passed with a much lower ppm15 that her previous test 66.I know she is 12 years old could he be taking the piss in the hope we will change.....no other issues arose in the nct
