Hi just wondering if anyone could help me out my engine light came on on my Toyota Yaris 2006 brought it to the garage mechanic put a code reader in it said fault in catalytic converter , the mechanic reassured me its only a minor fault and I should not get it fixed as it’s still safe to drive and only minor I only get nctd two weeks ago and it passed emissions test , is it safe to drive or will I ruin my car ?

It is probably safe but without nct readings or the actual error code we can just guess.
Either way, a bad converter won't ruin the car, just the environment ;)
