Just bought a female connector to attach hose to my pressure washer pump however without any success, i tested to see without attaching to the pressure washer and turned on the tap and the water simply won’t come out of the hose with the female water stop attached? How is it supposed to supply water to the pressure washer when the female connector stops the water from feeding into it?

Sorry if this is a stupid question but I simply have no knowledge whatsoever specifically to this issue..

I've noticed before that not all connectors happily work with the waterstop mechanism (or at least the one I was using)

You'll have to have a look at it to see will the connectors work together. Or just use a bog standard one.

+1 they're selling a pair of those hose connectors (plastic, about €2.49 for the pair) at the moment in Lidl. One has the stop mechanism, the other not.

Page 26 in this leaflet, scroll to the end (of the 32 pages) by clicking the double-right arrow (>>), then scroll back to p.26.

Correct - This mechanism means you can connect - disconnect hose from power washer without having to go back to the tap rach time to turn the supply on / off.

Unplug female connector - water stops in hose
connect female connector- water flows through power washer
