Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Form B Questions

    Hey all,

I'm at stage 4 in the recruitment process but just a bit stuck on some questions about family on the Form B.

Basically, I've never known my father, left when I was less than 1 year old. Anyway, had to get his details, his wife's details and his kids details because technically they are my half siblings.

Anyway, there are a few members of his side of the family that I am being asked for that I haven't a clue, like occupations, DOB and full postal address... I've never met any of these people and don't know anything about them, have explained this on the day of my interview to the civilian working for the Gardaí and they replied and said, there are always ways to find out these things.

Do they really expect me to find out this information of people that I don't know and that no one in my family knows?

    Thanks.

    Unfortunately, yes they do.

Would these be your dad's brothers and sisters/parents?

It's probably going to mean a trip to the registry/parish office for the DOB's. Some genealogy websites have useful info but you usually have to sign up for a month.

Then try: the phonebook, facebook, linkedin, cro, electoral register (this will only confirm an address), planning applications (free - useful for rural locations), land register (expensive - narrow your search first if you can), pipl.com, local newspapers etc. Or if you can suck it up and ask your Dad if that's possible?

    I feel your pain!

Thanks for the reply, I rang them yesterday and they did say they would need that info alright. Fortunately a brother of mine is in touch with our dad and said he'd try find out more info.

    Thanks for the reply!
