    Hi,

Is there anyone on here living in Hamburg at the moment?

I have to be there for the 2nd and 3rd of May. I think that the S-Bahn is on strike on the 3rd. But, does the strike affect the U-Bahn as well?

Just want to make sure so I can plan accordingly.

Theres a strike in May in Hamburg on the sbahn? Where did you hear that ?

The sbahn is a subsidiary of deutsche bahn (so like Irish rail) and normally pay rates are negotiated nationwide, and strikes normally announced with minimal notice, not nearly a month.
As far as I know, they are still operating off the last hard faught deal and theres no negotiations ongoing , and therefore no strikes legally possible let alone planned.

The U-bahn is completely different. Its owned by the city council so its governed by public service pay deals, and they are ongoing and causing strikes, although none yet on the transport systems, just bins/ creches/ airport staff / swimming pools etc.

I have not heard anything about strikes and usually as munchkin_utd already said, they announce them last minute.

s-bahn and u-bahn are different companies, but they work together and your ticket is valid on both systems.

You can download the HVV app from the app store and you if you select messages from the menu, you will get a list of all upcoming disruptions.

Theres a strike in May in Hamburg on the sbahn? Where did you hear that ?

It was on /www.trainline.eu. Strange, it doesn't seem to be there now. But, there was a banner message saying there was a strike in place over a number of days from April until June? One of the days was May 3rd.

Maybe it was sorted? I dunno.

I couldn't find any info on other sites, so I thought I'd ask on here.

If there's not, then that's grand.

for this website that covers rail services all across Europe, did they specifically mention Hamburg ?

There are strike days notified for french strikes, but France is a different country
See here : https://en.oui.sncf/en/train/strike and May 3rd is one of the dates of a possible strike, in France.

A couple of nights ago when I was planning my time there I put in times for a journey to Munster (tze) from Hamburg Airport for the 3rd and the info returned said no trains were running that day. So I changed my journey to the 2nd and that seemed grand.

Funny, though, I've just put the journey in for the 3rd again today and it seems fine now.

Maybe it was a site error, or my error? Not sure. Either way, it seems ok now.
