Anybody who is interested in joining or has been accepted into NAS just beware. When you arrive in the college SIPTU rep will be there and attempt recruit you and hand over your details then and there.
I'd advise you all to think carefully about this. Not every station in the country is a SIPTU station. Give it some time before testing the waters and fishing out peoples opinions about any union in specific. Don't get pushed into any union unless you're familiar with the organisation.

Agree totally with that point, however there are only 3 unions recognised by your new employer. Another representative body, an arm of the PNA, not affiliated to the ICTU will also try and recruit you with lots of very impressive claims. Beware, they have never negotiated anything with the NAS at national level and with the exception of some disciplinary and grievance issues are not even in the room for the high level stuff.

Me personally I've never been approached by the group you mention. They're around, lingering but don't have enough members to be a recognised union which is all I know really.
Anyway, when any of you do join NAS just keep this in mind about SIPTU. It's not a tactic I was impressed with, nor was everybody else who was coaxed into joining SIPTU them on day one. I didn't join them.
I'll reserve my opinions on the various unions as it probably isn't appropriate to voice them here.

??? Since when??? when I started this did not happen we actually were told about siptu unite and NASRA on our first day
I ended up joining siptu but I wasn’t forced or cornered in the college or anywhere elese or at station level my station has a very active siptu and nasra rep and neither gave me any grief
