    Hi

I need replace shifters on my road bike. My bike is 5 years old and I would imagine bringing to a bike shop to replace would cost more than the bike(Prob 200 euro)? Would anyone know the estimate of replacing the shifters(I am not increasing the number of gears) in a bike shop

I think I may need to change myself to save money so I am looking for a pair of Shimano ST-2400 Claris STi 16 Speed shifters?

Amazon are selling for about 110 euro.

    Thanks

    Noel

are they both just a bit worn out? or did they both break at the same time?

Merlin had ultegra levers for 160 quid for a pair there so you'd feel like a right spoon if you paid 100 quid for Claris! If you can't replace them for half nothing then a stand-back reassessment and ground up re-think of strategy would be my recommendation!

Where are you based Noel? I took a set off a bike a few years ago with a few KMs on them so could try and arrange

If he changes to Ultegra shifters he also has to change the rear derailleur, cassette, chain and buy new cables and possibly even new chain rings...so quite an expense. He wants to keep the bike 8speed hence looking for Claris shifters.

Course yeah, but 300 quid will get a Claris levers attached to an entire brand new bike so overpaying for em is inadvisable.

To me at least. T'aint my money. But I'd be looking on donedeal for a little used bike with Claris on it or something. Buying new levers at full rrp is the last thing I would be doing.

No word back from OP but mine are nearly new and i’ll sell them for €50 depending on ease of sale / meeting up. No hassles if not interested
