Masking tape peelling off paint

    Hi all
I got the pro painters in to spray my entire new home with primer white.
    walls & ceilings
So im doing the final coats of colour on the walls.
I put masking tape on the ceiling
so i can get a nice edge on the top off the wall were the my new paint meets the ceiling.
But when i peel of the tape it takes the ceiling paint off with it
    in bits here and there.
I tried the green frog tape
also the green frog yellow tape -which is "low tack'
    'for delicate surfaces'
but both are damaging the ceiling paint on removal.
Im not just cutting in the paint by hand - but it looks kinda rough
Can someone recommend another tape or a different technique
    Thanks
    Cookie

I wouldn't expect masking tape to work on a ceiling. In most cases the paint just won't stick to a ceiling well enough to put masking tape on it without it lifting the paint. If you were putting masking tape on to gloss paint over wood then it will work fine.

You could try a paint masking tool, but you need to keep cleaning it as you go or it will make the job worse.

Did you allow a week of drying time after the spray coat before masking?

I've used this stuff on painted ceiling edges no problem
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00139LT0M?psc=1&ref=yo_pop_mb_pd_title

Can't comment on the frog tape

I used frog tape recently - it's great stuff but remove it as soon as you've finished painting and the paint is still wet

However I wouldn't use it for a ceiling personally. Working on your cutting in technique is ultimately the best way to go about it.

don't even know where to start with this
tape is not meant to be put on walls or ceilings ,ever . no type.
you got a professional in who sprayed your ceilings to finish am i right and primed the walls?
you need to do it by hand
get a brush you are comfortable with bristles ,about at least 3 inches long ,not black. dip the brush ,have your index fingeron the side of the brush as you hold it so when you press it against the wall the side you have your index finger on will come to a point as such
    like this

    https://www.google.ie/imgres?imgurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.dummies.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F243852.image2.jpg&imgrefurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.dummies.com%2Fhome-garden%2Fhome-painting%2Fhow-to-cut-in-edges-of-a-wall-with-a-paint-brush%2F&docid=jvXPVJJVNjDkxM&tbnid=JaaPmzyMJBmzqM%3A&vet=12ahUKEwj3xcXzu63aAhVgGsAKHdI0Bjk4ZBAzKDMwM3oECAAQNA..i&w=535&h=356&bih=694&biw=1280&q=hold%20paintbrush&ved=2ahUKEwj3xcXzu63aAhVgGsAKHdI0Bjk4ZBAzKDMwM3oECAAQNA&iact=mrc&uact=8

now start maybe an inch below your wall/ceiling line, bring the brush over and back ,slowly take your time and bring it up a little bit at a time until you have your line .

maybe watch a youtube video or something or hire a pro
    but dont use tape
ive looked up that frogs tape you mentioned
    it is ****e
and overpriced ****e at that, use masking tape (not from woodies or b and q)buy it in a paint store for about 1/3 to1/4 of the price and it will be better
also never leave it on long .
    good luck

You'll know by checking the tape .If it feels very sticky it'll pull the paint off the ceiling.

It should be barely tacky to work and the paint needs to be well cured like a week

Is the frog tape sticky to the touch?

Low tack tape varies an awful lot

    thanks
seem to have touched a nerve there!
    but if :
tape is not meant to be put on walls or ceilings ,ever . no type

why would paint shops sell it?

i know its takes practice & skill
by the time ive got the hang of it the house will be finished!
All the budget went on getting the guys into spray primer
    Thanks lads

You can mask off walls and ceilings no problem with the right tape.

It should be barely tacky otherwise it's no good
