MF 35X Restoration

Currently doing up a MF 35x.... engine rebuilt, body & and all panels stripped back to bare metal.... waiting for a few warm days to spray it outside.

Ill be getting the panels strayed in a local auto body shop, gonna have a go at spraying the main body, rims (grey) myself.

I've never sprayed before so I have a few questions for anyone that has done it before:


* I've read on other threads here that Sparex 2 pack paint would be the best.... anyone know where I might be able to buy it? Ideally in the midlands or the west... but I can arrange delivery if its further away. I've been told most people use vapormatic paint... not sure which to go for

* Should I spray on a rust blocker or something first before the first primer coat?

* Need to buy an air compressor would a 50 litre compressor do it or should i go for a 100 litre.

If spraying 2 pack paint you need propper air fed spray mask. If you don't have right equipment for spraying get the normal enamal paint as it is safer to use and what was originally on the tractor.

Get the pros to do 2 pack on panels. Use enamal yourself on chassis and rims might be a good compromise.

You won't have much issue with rust on chassis so a goid primer will probably do.

Get at least a 100 litre compressor.

Oh.... And post pictures.

If your buying a compressor try and find out the cfm, (cubic feet min) the higher the cfm pump on the compressor the more capicty it has to fill the tank, basicly a 50ltr tank with a 10cfm pump will maintain say 50psi of air flow as a 100ltr tank with a 5cfm, that's my limit of knoldge on compressors, and generally the bigger the cfm the more expensive they are.
