    Hey guys
thinking of getting FTA/Saorview channels from mytv.ie

there seems to be 3 packages and was wondering what the Quad receiver means in relation to cheaper edision os models

These quad tuner machines usually have 2 satellite tuners (each with a separate input) and 2 terrestrial tuners (with a shared input).

This allows you to record multiple programs simultaneously while watching others.

SaorView has two blocks of channels (called muxes) so the two tuners are needed if you want to record RTÉ1 and watch RTÉ2 (for example) at the same time. The lower priced boxes only have one tuner so you would be unable to access both muxes at the same time.

You can record more than one channel at a time from each mux so in theory you could record all of the SaorView channels at the same time with two terrestrial tuners.

Each satellite tuner can also access multiple channels at the same time (as long as they are on the same transponder) so it is possible to record multiple satellite channels while watching another.
