New PC to be built

Hi

I'm looking to build in a PC, as I only got the laptop now and it runs very slow for most of the games.
It should be something performant enough so that I don't have to change it in few years, but doesn't have to be at the top end.

I have a sample build here, too.

I don't know a lot about it, so all suggestions are welcome .


1. What is your budget? [€700/800 would be best]

2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? [Gaming/3D Modelling]

3. Do you need a copy of Windows? [No]

4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? [CPU (Intel - Xeon E3-1231 V3 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor) + Motherboard (Gigabyte - GA-Z97X-Gaming 3 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard)]

5. Do you need a monitor? [No]

6. Do you need any of these peripherals? [Wireless Card ? Is it needed for internet or can it be already included with some of the components ? ]

7. Are you willing to try overclocking? [Not in a near future]

8. How can you pay? [Bank Transfer/Credit Card]

9. When are you purchasing? [Preferably begining of May but can be before]

10. If you need help building it, where are you based? [N/A]

I would suggest 16GB RAM. Second hand DDR3 is cheap enough.

On your budget I'd probably suggest looking at a second hand GPU maybe a 980ti. GPU prices are coming down but there is still better value on adverts (IMO) if you get someone who isn't bonkers.

Older DDR3 platform won't limit you now, but might long term. Maybe sell the old stuff and start afresh?

I can't really sell the old stuff, it's not mine yet !

32GB going for 160 here

Have a look out for ECC DDR3, too; as long as it's 1600MHz or higher it's good enough for gaming.

Depends really. DRAM is mostly faster than GPUs so the impact is small enough but as GPUs and GDDR speed up older RAM will start to become a bottleneck worth considering.

Not a disaster in any way, just worth weighing up.

I tried a second build with a different GPU + motherboard, and DDR4, and it's almost the same, regarding the price : liste

As for electronic parts, I really prefer to avoid to buy second hand from someone I don't know, even if it means that it probably won't fit the budget.

That's a well-balanced build
I'd change the following 2 items:

Change motherboard to B350 chipset - this allows you to overclock the CPU.
Change GPU to RX570 4Gb - saves some money.
