    Hey everyone!

Just looking for some advice. so, where to begin... Yesterday i got several pictures into my phone from an unknown number - they had some rubbish scattered seemingly at some field and last picture had a box with my name, fairly old address and my phone number on it - seems a box i got a delivery in at some stage.. The message read - pick up your rubbish or i am bringing this to county council. Location - some bog not far from kells?? (i live up in dublin myself)

I could not believe that, i had never dumped anything anywhere in my life and i am disgusted and totally against it! - At first i though this was some sort of new scam. And tried to find out more and tried to ring the number but they were not picking up, only messages.. They were having none of it.. saying i have time till Tuesday. And i dont blame them, I'd be the same i guess...

Anyways I had manage to dig deeper and i guess i know how that could've possibly gotten there and it is making my blood boil. I had still contact with the places i lived previously and there was a house clearance in one of them - they were doing the attic etc - so some gardening guy that did lawn cutting at their place at that time offered himself to take that away to the dump (which obviously didnt happen!!!!!!!!!) asked for a number - no number, paid by cash and never seen again, BRILIANT!!!

So i need some advice or info now. As far as i understand the fine is 150 euro or up to 3000 if it goes to court? Also if that box is there with my address then i will be the one that is assumed to be accountable for that rubbish? If there is CCTV in the area - will they bother looking into that (I really hope there is and they do). If any notice is sent - will that be sent to the address on the box or will they be able to find out and send it to the address i currently live in? (dont really want to miss it.

As for going there and checking it out for myself - its a 200 km roundtrip roughly and i definitely dont have time to come out there till tuesday - let alone do something about it.
This is a very unpleasant situation and I appreciate any info on the above.

If it was me I'd take the phone with any proof of when you moved, bills letters etc with your new address on them, to the guards and make a formal statement. They will be able to trace the number that sent you the pictures. Give them any information you can about the guy that took your rubbish including the name of the neighbour he was working for. If you do nothing you'll probably end up being fined by the council and have to pay for the cost of removal. If you decide to remove the rubbish yourself you could drive there and find a couple of tons of it. Good luck.

Yes, I was thinking that it might be like a mini dump there and I might need a truck to clear it if I decide to. I read stories with peoples bills found and then they get a fine - since bills are used as proof of address etc thats understandable, but i really wonder how a box with a name on it might play as evidence, but anyways.. Regarding going to the guards - i will do that, although i am afraid because it was some cash in hand job they will tell me to get lost too.

You gave your waste to an unlicenced (probably) waste disposal cowboy. Elsewhere on boards I've read that is an offence in itself. I've no personal knowledge of the legal situation myself.
I can't imagine the Gardaí will be interested in tracing the person who texted you. To what end?
