A month late but Finally left the 1st lot of cattle out on grass today, yearling and some replacement heifers. More of a relief for us than them TBH. Hope the ground holds up but they should be ok.

Going to let the cows with the older calves off tomorrow (fingers crossed) running outta space and starting to get some with scour now as well. Better off outside.

I had to let out the cows with calves soon as the snow melted and anytime someone calved hey had 3-7 days in before being let out. I'm not set up for having cows with calves since other cows were waiting to come off the slats to straw pens to calve. Put out a few bales early march but have them spread out so the stocking rate is low. Getting tight though!

I was looking at the farm diary last year and I had nearly everything out March 15th bad a few big bullocks. Some difference this year! The yearlings will be in for another 2 weeks anyway, big bullocks 3.

Weaned all the autumn calvers today, ive had the bulls running in and out since january so no hassle there but expecting an earful from the heifers for a while. ive been putting cows after calving out for a week or so and finished calving today (finally). ive had good growth the last few days so hoping to get weanling heifers out mid week. cows with calves this day week. replacement heifers will stay in with the bull for another while. yearling heifers hopefully sometime during the week and autumn cows will stay until silage is gone. they would be out sooner but i have 40 or 50 bales of mediocre silage that wont hold until next year and im going to try stick a field or two extra into the pit.

Had got 35 of the heaviest bullocks(2YO) and 14 light heifers( 8-10 month) out until last weekend. Rehoused the bullocks. Hope to get them out again late next week. Will really hit the place with fertlizer mid week.
