Okay, I run a small business as a sole trader.
Does anyone know what the rules are re advertising spend.
A friend runs a race car and I would like to put my business name on the side and obviously give him some money in return.
Is there an advertising spend limit v turnover or any other rules?
In addition, if I was to get into racing and run my own car, is there anything stopping me from again advertising my business on it and again using business funds to pay for the advertising.

If you are getting into the racing as a hobby, then no, you won't be able to claim a deduction for advertising expenses.

That being said, there is case law examples of where business people have sponsored themselves, and have been allowed a deduction for advertising expenses

In the general case where I advertise on the side of friends car, is there a rule re percentage of turnover that can be spent for advertising?
