I have an 09 Lexus IS220d thats showing a fault code for the drivers side rear abs sensor . just rang lexus in cork and they want 170 plus vat for the part , online spurious parts can be got from 33 euro (Japanparts) up to 130 ( blueprint) and many other options in between.
Would it be a false economy putting a third party abs sensor on ?

Not at all, but first of all try disconnecting battery for 30min to see if issue clears.

You'll need to keep radio presets and electric window reset.

The website should be easily replaced as diy

    Thanks ,
I disconnected the battery for an hour during the week , and the lights didn't go away .

I don't mind buying the sensor if it needs replacing , just don't want to buy twice . I suppose my question is if anybody had used a blueprint abs sensor, and if they were oem quality. I have used blueprint brake pads and filters before with no problems.

Take it out, inspect it, lightly clean face front of sensor, clear housing of any debris, spray connectors as they enter the body of the car with contact/switch cleaner, insert sensor back in and go for a drive...
If the fault still shows then get a spurious ABS sensor on ebay..
I've bought them before for my previous car(Passat)with no issues.

I got japanparts suspension part for my car and it was gone again within a few months, original lasted 9 years.

Spurious parts can be good but also they can be complete rubbish.
Out of interest I cut a few used oil filters open to see what kind of quality they were, I opened a Nipparts one that had the bypass spring cup sitting way off centre, and the bypass valve itself had a small spring that barely moved to allow oil to pass in the event of the filter being blocked.
Based on that one sample, I'd be in no rush to buy that brand again.
Genuine parts for the most part are designed and tested by the manufacturer to work correctly and give a decent service life.
