Petrol Car Recommendations

Hi,
I am looking at buying a new car for around €10k. I currently drive a 2008 Volvo S60 2.0 petrol and would be looking at buying another petrol car as I don't do a lot of mileage (around 10,000 km per year. A lot of the 2nd hand mid sized to large cars are diesel and I don't want to buy a small car. Would anyone have any recommendations for a good mid sized to large petrol car for around €10k?

What’s the most you’ll spend on tax? Do you want something around as comfy as the S60?

I'm currently paying €710 so ideally wouldn't want to pay a lot more than that. I would like something that's comfortable if possible

I put in a filter of 2009 or newer, price under 11k, petrol and 2 litre or above just made an assumption you want to come up in years and stay 2.0 or more.

There's not much there. Couple of 3 series, the odd Audi or Lexus but nothing that would be dragging me out of a nice s60.

Apart from that there's a Ford kuga, Sportsge, few other dull looking motors.

I think you'll find it tough to find something you like but look to the UK you might see something nice.

I had a Volvo s60 2003 2.0 T I changed for a 2010 skoda superb 1.8 elegance petrol due mostly to the Volvo not being suitable to add a disabled car seat to.


I paid 10,650 last august.

It is hard to find petrol cars in this class in Ireland. There are more of them in England but not many.

Would I be mad to look at a diesel considering I would be only doing less than 10,000 km per year and most of that would be short trips?

Short trips are very bad for the diesel particulate filter.

It is possible that tax on diesel could go up like it did in UK where diesel and petrol are now same price per litre.
