I was reared on a 272. Bad brakes, poor steering, shocking hydraulics and the worlds softest lift cover. We used to take off the brake cover and re sand them on a regular occasions. Good engine.

Get something else is my advice.

We have a 282 synchro turbo with a loader with over 20 years that never gave a days trouble. My neighbour has a 272 non synchro no turbo and it is useless. Anyone here have a 262 non synchro. Thanks for replying

Jeez, anyone who has had a loader on a Leyland for 20 years and never had a bit of bother, should be buying lotto tickets.
Clutches wouldn't be renowned for long life.
Anyway, a Syncro is so much nicer to drive than a 10 speed, and I think the 282 had hydraulic brakes?

I remember drawing in silage with a 272. Lethal on the road re steering. I used to keep the oil changed in the backend so it would tip. Tried the hose over the backend and gearbox every time but the change was as handy.

The oul lad was advised to get a Major in the day but he didn't like taking advice. Thick cûñt

Late 1950's design, updated in the late 1970's with the syncro gearbox. The only manufacturer in the world to modernise their tractor by reducing the number of gears ..... :D
I grew up with 10/60's and then a 384 and a 272 syncro. Knew no better at the time!
