FTTH Installation

    Hi.
I am an eir customer currently using 4g mobile broadband.
FTTH is due to become available on the 25th of April in my area. My neighbours on both sides of me are able to order now to arrange an installation date.
My house is a new build and only completed early 2017. I have received an eircode.
I am trying to order FTTH and being told I can't and will have to wait over a year before new houses are picked. Apparently it has something to do with all the houses being chosen and they can't add new houses until they finish 300k first. This seems like madness with the fibre line right outside the house. The sales agent wasn't even willing to discuss my options or what I could do. I was simply told they won't arrange an installation and get off the phone!
What can I do to get my house connected?

    Hi,

    Thanks for the response Thomas.

I have rung through to 3 different agents on the 1800 503 303 number as advised.

The first agent advised that I could not order until the national 300k program has been completed and they will add more eircodes and properties then.

The second agent advised I could order on the 25th of April when it goes live but not today.

The third agent didn't seem to know what an eircode was and hung up the call.

Is it possible to get a callback from someone who actually knows what they are doing and can arrange a date to install?

This is the easiest sales call in the world and I am having to jump through hoops to get eir to sell me a product a can see from the front door!

    Thanks.

I've responded to you about this in the broadband forum but anyway. The reps you are speaking to here are working for eir retail. They get a list of Eircodes each week of premises that can order (the APQ file). The list comes from Openeir (eir wholesale).

Here is the rub. eir retail and Openeir cannot communicate with each other about issues like this for fear of creating an unfair advantage for eir retail over other retail ISPs.

The fact is you are wasting your time speaking to eir retail about this. Until they get an APQ file with your Eircode on it you will not be able to order. I have given you an email for Openeir in the other thread so I would suggest you use it instead.

    Hi daddy pig,

    No problem at all.

I'm very sorry to hear about the issues you've been having when calling into our sales department. Unfortunately, I cannot arrange any callbacks through this channel. I'm very sorry about this.

    Thanks

    Hello Eir.

I am looking to get FTTH installed, the nearest pole with the Fibre is 3 poles from my house approx 100m from my house. i live in a cluster of 3 houses, and I know from talking to my 2 neighbours we would all take it.

I have tried severa times in 2017 and again in 2018 to get FTTH installed, but each time I am told it is not in your area. When i run my Eircode through through the FTTH checker it failed, when I type several of my neighbours in it passes.

I currently have a wireless broadband solution from a local small provider, which is not fit for purpose, as it often fails. I work in IT, and have the option to work from home but cannot as my wireless broadband solution fails daily.

I would very much welcome the opportunity to have FTTH installed, and would much appreciate, any and all help you can provide to get the service installed.
