In the centre of Tallaght, just off the square...and no broadband

Openeir shows a map filled with green for the whole area as fibre connected. I'm surrounded by fibre cabinets (one literally less than 100 metres away).

And yet......no internet available. Eir order page shows speeds up to 7mb. I ordered but engineer said nothing available?

Trying to get through to anyone at openeir or even just Eir to try and do something has strong parallels to "The Trial by Kafka".

Is there any reasonable recourse for me here?

    One of the apartment blocks?

If so you may be limited to a single provider like Magnet or Conway. Ask a neighbour.

Is it possible he said there were no ports left?

It's not uncommon, that OpenEIRs database doesn't have a premise down for FTTC, even though it's inside a FTTC area.

Try a provider, that cares to resolve the issue. It's probably a database problem inside OpenEIR, but you can't talk to OpenEIR directly. Whatever provider you order from has to do that.

Lots of other providers to choose from, when it comes to FTTC/VDSL: http://fibrerollout.ie/rollout-map/where-to-buy/
