Requirement of house drawings for Architect

    Hello,
I have just started the process to design and build a rear house ground floor extension. An architect is on board. This professional wants to hire a drawing office to survey the house and produce fully section drawings of the whole building. Is this really necessary or is it a good investment to have?

Architect should be capible of doing this. If not ask why it’s necessary. Perhaps its that external ground and above ground services need to be mapped as well as adjoining properties roof heights etc this would be typically surveyed by others

The Benifit of having a third party survey is that the arch has no liability in this regard, also the survey typically has the appropriate gear to survey quickly and with more detail
