Office PC Build

Hi all, building a PC for my grandad, all he want's is for it to be fast.

He does basic Microsoft Office tasks, web browsing, and watching YouTube.

I have done up a build myself, he wants it in around the 320, 340 euro mark.

Anyone agree with the build below, or would change anything?

Again he just wants a pc for Office/Web Browsing/YouTube but wants it to be fast and start up fast.

Any help would be appreciated, Thanks!

Seems perfect to me, other than that 4GB is on the lower side even for casual use, 8 would be better though I know prices are mad at the moment.

Also the new Ryzen 2200G is available now, is a quad core versus dual of the G4560 for a bit more (about €90) and has massively superior integrated graphics......though it's not much of a big deal, performance between the two in non-gaming tasks is pretty similar.

Or for 300 quid(and deals like that come up often) you can have a desktop delivered with Windows and a years collect and return warranty.

That processor is way, way slower than a G4560 and it's not up-gradable either.

It's a fair price if you're absolutely not willing to build, but if you are willing to do so, it's not really a good buy.

I'll never go prebuilt again, too many years of being ripped off with cheap components and no upgradability.

Is the Ryzen much better than the G4560 ? Ive seen builds with it but never a comparison, what would be your thoughts ?

Not really. It's a quad core versus dual core/four threads of the G4560, but performance is pretty similar overall.

The integrated graphics are massively superior on 2200G, but I doubt it's of any real consequence to an office PC.

Perfect, I take it YouTube will run fine in 1080p on the G4560? Thats the most graphic intense thing he will be doing.

The Ryzen build is good, but slightly over budget and the extra graphics aren't really needed if the G4560 can handle youtube in HD.

You might've missed that my suggested build had double the RAM (8Gb) & a better, quieter power supply.

Also I do not recommend G4560 on H110 motherboards; get B150 or B250.

No no, was duly noted. However the RAM is gone back up on Amazon (for me anyways) to over 100 pounds, so as much as I would love to stick 8GB in it, its just too expensive to justify it at the moment.

I agree with the power supply however.

For the second build you have shown thank you for that. I'm still tempted with the Ryzen one though, makybe with 4GB Ram for now and another 4GB later on.

Just do a search on Amazon for 8Gb DDR4 ; it's still possible to find it for £65-70 most days
