Ireland to Zurich by car?

We plan to drive from Dublin to Zurich. Anyone has done this before? If so any advices on the shortest and easier route? I just want to take my car to Zurich and I love road trips too but not sure if the route is worth a drive or I should just ship the car and get a flight there.

Google map suggests the best route would be Dublin - England - France - Zurich.

But I don’t want to get on the ferry many times nor I want to drive through England. I would prefer to take a ferry to France from Dublin then drive from there to Paris and stop at a few cities/towns in France and Switzeland on the way to Zurich.

Done Munich-Ireland, and back, a heap of times, so not an awful lot different than what youre looking at.
You can ignore what google says, as it doesn't know that the direct ferry is a more attractive option for a human who needs rest, but rather chooses the quickest way possible driving for 24hours solid with no sleep (if even it knows about the France ferry in the first place).
As for what to do, all along the Normandy coast on the way to Paris theres museums and monuments and sites of the D-Day landings.
Paris is desperate for driving in so best choose somewhere to stay a little farther out. You are sort of passing Versailles so that could be somewhere to stop off.
Reims (champagne!) and Metz are nice cities on the way to the eastern side of France but are a little north of the most direct way to Zurich. One place which is on your way is Colmar in France, and at that stage you could divert to the Black forest in Germany (Gengenbach to Triberg roughly) before heading into Switzerland.
If you took the route via Metz, then you have to go through the black forest (and that way you also have lots of WW1 history, the Somme and some irish graveyards and monuments).
Anyhow, driving long distances isnt great if just looking to get from A to B, but if like yourself you're making the journey part of the holiday then its great to see places you otherwise wouldnt think of going.

Thank you so much. We have just googled all the places you mentioned and we defiantly wanted to check them out. We have a week so we have plenty of time to stop at different locations and just being spontaneous really. Great thought about Versailles, lovely place and we don’t want to drive through Paris for sure. We are two girls who aren’t good at maps so will get lost at some stages on our way but that’s part of the fun. Thanks a million all the suggestions.

+1 , did Paris Periphique once late in the evening when I thought it'd be quiet, and it was still bonkers and the last thing I needed after being on the road all day.
Since then its been the road via Amiens and the Pont de Normandie (bridge).
It costs a few euro extra in tolls but is worth it.

I also meant to say that theres lots of home made french cider to be tasted along the coast of Normandy , and surely one of the farms also has accommodation. Its just 2% and FAR nicer/ milder than Irish cider
