Hi Lads,

Need a hand with a new build for a mate, have had a look at some of the recent threads but trying to get fresh perspective.

1. What is your budget? 1200-1500
2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? Gaming and possibly streaming, although he wants to use it to stream off an xbox not sure how.
3. Do you need a copy of Windows? Yes
4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? No
5. Do you need a monitor? No
6. Do you need any of the peripherals? No
7. Are you willing to try overclocking? Yes
8. How can you pay? Credit card
9. When are you purchasing? ASAP

To capture footage from your xbox you need to get a capture card. These come in the form of external USB based ones and internal PCI-E based ones. You should probably do the research somewhere else on what fits his needs.
Depending on the games he plays FPS may be more important or resolution.

In regards to the CPU for a PC to be capable of running the most modern games while encoding the footage on the CPU a pretty good CPU is needed. I'm not familiar with the new AMD CPU's and there additional threads / cores but you would likely need an i7 if you plan on going the intel route.

Depending on the graphics card your friend is considering, I'd say this build could push the budget to the higher end of the 1500.

Thanks for the feedback, i will need to run it by him about the capture stuff. GFx card he will be taking whatever the good folk of this forum advise .

G-card market is a bits nuts atm second hand is the way to go.
GTX 980 and 980 TI aren't too over priced. Picked up a 780 TI myself for 200e which I thought was reasonable if you can get a similar price.
But what games are played and what kind of future proofing would help with a recommendation.

Not sure what your mate means by "streaming off an Xbox".

Thanks for the build, what is logicalincrements?

He basically wants to capture gameplay on the xbox at times. I will take your advice on pre-built, what a time to be alive when it is price competitive to buy something off the shelf.
