importing goods without EU certification

    Hi all,
i'm looking at a manure-spreader that is manufactured and sold in the US. I have been told that they cannot ship one to me since it does not have EU certification. However, the equipment would be for my own personal use, not resale (although i cant guarantee that i wouldn't sell it on if i no longer required it!).

So i'm wondering if there is anything in EU/irish import law stopping me from importing this item or not?

i'm only asking here in case anyone knows or has faced this situation before, rather than trawling through the revenue website for hours!

    Thanks, :)

If a certain standard (BS, CE, ISO) is required then its required. Personal/for sale isn't really relevant.

    What standard is it missing?
