Cuckoo clocks

I'm looking at buying a mechanical Black Forest cuckoo clock as a birthday present. I understand that there are a handful of manufacturers who are certified to make these e.g. Hekas, Anton Schneider, Hubert Herr etc, and so these are who I'm looking at.

Are these manufacturers all of roughly the same quality? Because browsing their clocks, they certainly all seem awfully similar in style and sound.

Would it be reasonable to expect to buy a decent mechanical cuckoo clock, new, for between 100-250 Euro?
