Based on OP's linked car, not sure they want a Prius :D

However, be careful about buying high mileage, old premium cars OP. Make sure you get a mechanic to have a look over before buying if you don't know much about cars yourself. More about how the car has been taken care of and maintained moreso than anything really.

A prius wouldn't be what I'm looking for.
I'd have a good knowledge of cars but I will have a mechanic take a look.

As the title says I'm after a sub 5k automatic, less than two liter engine.
Looking for suggestions as I have no luck buying cars.
I've picked out three that caught my eye.
    I'm in Cork.

Buy local, and as a previous subscriber dmsaid be careful of high mileage cars, ref Merc in one add, sincerely doubt if that mileage is correct, after having 3 similar cars years ago reckon at least one was clocked,if you can't check full history I'd walk, ref Prius think it's a good option,I drive a Japanese insight, cheap n cheerful

I guess I was being a little dramatic, I barely got a year from my last purchase.
I'd like to buy something other than a focus or golf this time though sure as fu*ck that's what I will end up buying.

"Lexus IS250 auto with highest spec you can find" could be cheaper to run than german counterparts at that age and budget.

Lots of ways really. Best way is to bring it to a garage (prearranged) that is reputable and trustworthy. That way they can put it up on the ramp to check the underbelly
