For a minute I thought you were talking about the guy in the photo in your post.....

Ive always found that a sledgehammer, brought down upon the noggin with unmerciful force, tends to change minds.

Come round to my living room lined with bin bags and I'll cure what ails ye.

It hasn't rattled the Twitteratti as the guy isn't a 'celebrity'.

You wont see a march about this case.

The problem is either the law is completely irrelevant and needs to be either re-written or updated or secondly the judges dont how to apply it properly.

any system where someone can rack up 100+ convictions is a fcuking joke.

Judge appointments should be by public vote, not a political appointment. That said, if a barrister was any good they would make a lot more money working for a firm or independently than they would 'working' for the State.

Lets just cut to the chase, what we need are the judges from judge dredd.

Yep. No viral hashtags or online petitions either.

Disgraceful, first time you'd say people can change. But after the third, it's quite clear this guy isn't changing and should be in jail for good. Why is Ireland such as soft touch with the justice system, in regards people just taking the absolute piss out of it, 100/200/300 convictions, 3 time convicted serial rapist allow roam around free to rape again based on his past.

That’s not even the worst part for me

How can someone automatically qualify for early release a) on his second sentence for rape and b) that sentence was given while on early release from the first one

There should be absolutely no way that automatic early release should be given in the first place. You could certainly look at the person and say OK, they’re engaging with prison and probation services, and, are actually making attempts to reform, before even considering if they should be rewarded for that by early release

For rapists and muderers and repeat offenders, it shouldn’t even be a consideration. You get it once, and after that you’re just laughing behind our backs at our naivety

Problem Number 1. The public in general dont understand the legal system.

Problem Number 2. If they don't understand the system how can letting them vote on it improve it.

I'd have thought that the legal system would have figured out a system whereby the most suitable candidates fill the roles of judges by now without letting politicians decide

yeah visit legal thread on boards regular people crapping their pants over outdated nct, some minor issues, and regular scumbag with 50 convictions age 23 roams the streets bashing peoples heads in without a care :pac:

Yep. No viral hashtags or online petitions either.

There have been petitions and hashtags for years on the flimsy sentences handed down to predators & abusers. One judge in particular is the subject of much astonishment & objection but nothing changes.

it not the judges who come up with the laws /

I agree that in general judges in ireland are woefully soft on recidivist criminals but in this case at least the judge seems to have wanted to lock this person up for the rest of his life .
the problem lies in the legislation

and those who control that , are in lenister house

next time you are talking to a TB ask them what law they have got introduced personally
