Hi there, just wondering if anyone out there has ever bought any of ikeas wardrobes and in particular the customized/bespoke versions of their standard sizes that you can design on their website and from what I understand can be ordered and picked up.....?

Yup. I got several from instore design for a walkin wardrobe. Great job. Got them to pick and deliver as many drawers, rails bits and pieces. It was worth the fee. Took a few evenings to put together myself. I found the instructions clear and happy with quality

    +1 on Shaunoc's reply

I built a large wardrobe unit about 4 years ago now. Still absolutely perfect. Went with sliding doors and still no problem to this day. Wardrobe is sturdy and looks the part.

Again, took about 3 evenings or so to put it all together but wasn't difficult and instructions were clear.

One thing to note, I suppose like all wardrobes, is not to overload the shelves (I put shelves on the top of 1/4 of the unit. As the are chipboard they can tend to sag with overload.

There are a lot of parts with them so pick and delivery would be the easiest - i didn't go for that. Also ended up buying the wrong size shelf and had to go through the trials and tribulations of trying to return it (queued for 90mins!!).

    Anything else let me know.

Have a PAX wardrobe here beside me. Does the job just grand. Very configurable with choices of shelves/drawers/lights, whatever. Just pay attention and take your time building it, I had to take mine half apart after misaligning the bottom plinth and do it again.

One of the roller drawers gets jammed occasionally but that's more to do with the fact I've been kicking it closed with very little regard for it for half a decade than anything else. :D

Did a Pax in my sons bedroom last week. Great job, two meters wide and over 2.3m high. Great storage. Bit of work putting it together - I’d set aside a good day.

Bought two PAX wardrobes and had them assembled by lads on IKEA's list of installers. If you can collect yourself do. On the two occasions I had a delivery from IKEA some stuff arrived slightly damaged on both occasions.

i got alot delivered and no damage. there was no way of checking at delivery time due to the amount of cardboard, but i did help them unload and they took their time and brought it upstairs for me.
I once had a young lad delivering quite a bit for me (for a different company) and he was the laziest lad. even with me doing half his job he would only bring to inside front door. he started quoting some insurance nonsense. i should have left him at the whole job and sat watching.

Ikea stuff is pretty straightfwd once you sit down and sort everything - one unit at a time and have 2 people who get along doing the job! i replaced my better half with a brush to support/hold some stuff after the 2nd Pax unit :D
