Taxi driver salary?

Im toying with the idea of becoming a taxi driver part time. I think my preference would be to work just the airport.

Would anybody have any idea what kind of revenue one would earn in a night?

I understand insurance costs and other start up costs are high but just wondering if it could still be profitable?

I would work city centre Dublin also i suppose at some weekends but it seems a bit more dangerous from some stories ive heard.

Lets assume your dong a few hours evening midweek and 12 hour shift at weekend at the airport, what would you likely average?

i often wondered if taxi at airport gets a low fare to say swords and has to join the start of taxi rank, how long are they waiting to get another fare? In theory i understand some times might be busier than others but airports are 24 hours a day so i assume there is always some demand for taxis.

Que in airport for 2 hours before you get a fare.
The rank you see at the airport when you arrive home is just the cars that have been called up from the waiting area. If you get a local job, you let the dispatcher know and he lets you back in closer to the top, but I think it only covers you for the immediate area around the airport.

Then you have to judge whether it’s worthwhile going to the airport (flight arrival dependent)
Airport charge is about 400 euro per year.

Assuming you are aware of all the other taxi start up costs that I won’t go into now.
You also need to apply and pass the SPVS test which can Ben quite difficult.

The odd weekday night and 12 hour shift on a weekend, I think you’d be lucky to pull 400-500 per week.

Well with insurance at anything from 8k to 12 k per year for new entrants.

You'd want a long hard think about it.

And not they are not ransom figures that is the average rate.
