Hi folks, I'm looking for help, guidance and advice please. We've had a Hyundai Coupe 07 from new and had no issues with it, upgraded to an i40 2012 one in 2015 and it has had several small issues and a few major ones. Some warranty stuff was seat belt receivers, interior light, very bad rattle in dash which is still there after several visits to Hyundai, air con issues, hill start sensor. Two major post warranty things were €1000 to replace the clutch after 100,000km and replacement calipers and discs after 90,000km. Clutch is giving trouble again on 140,000km. The car has to go, bought it off a Hyundai dealer and I was caught with it as it's had so much stuff go wrong so it's going straight back to same dealer again. Karma and all that. Anyway I now have a bad feeling about Hyundai's but the Tucson seems popular and good. Has anyone any idea of faults with them, are they good for high mileage? We'll be buying a 152 and will be looking to get at least 5 years out of it. Thanks in advance for all help. Niall

No real issues yet, but the car not out that long yet! Rear shocks can rattle, but covered by warranty. Dont think too many are used as 'repmobiles' or taxis so you might not see many with high miles yet to test them, personally I would not have one if I was doing big mileage or working it hard....

If you have a bad feeling about Hyundai,s now why not have a look at a Kia Optima or Sportage instead. You can get the new Sportage from 161 on not sure on the Optima think its from 171 but even the older model was very nice and a very good looker.

Sportage is a good looking car alright and warranty is good too. Must check them out ta

Sportage and Tucson are identical underneath the different styling.

True and also very reliable. There is a lot of them in both the mk3 and mk4 generation and I have not heard of any big problems or reliability issues with them.

Had a Tucson on lease. About three years old it had a slight but unpleasant stiffness/catch in the steering - most noticeable on motorway. Hyundai replaced steering rack under warranty. No further issues.
