Can't close re-pressurisation valve on boiler

Bled radiators & pressure dropped slightly. Opened tap to re-pressurise boiler by twisting valve slightly left.

However, when I twist back to the right the valve doesn't stop (I can keep twisting it) and water is still flowing (pressure gauge rising & shower pump is making noise).

To stop over-pressurising, I have turned off the entire water pump altogether. Currently reading 1.0bar. How can I close the valve?

I have attached a picture (black valve). I know very little about this so I'm probably missing something very obvious.

Has the plastic black piece rung? I had that on mine so pulled it off and use a grips to open and close now.

Is there a small valve beneath that plastic bag?

In addition to above. If the heating system is pressurized via the pump, then you can leave the pump on.
It looks to be an old Stuart Turner pump and typically they were 1.5 bar, which is not going to create excessive pressure in the heating system.

Looks like an old ballcock in the plastic bag.

Have attached another photo (plastic bag moved this time).

You have eyes like a hawk KF.

OP! is there a valve at the other end of the flexible pipe?

But as KF said, it might be ok to leave it open for now anyway. See if it goes up to 2 bar with valve open, you can always lower it again at a rad bleed valve anyway.

    Thanks for the replies all.

Got the valve closed (it was a bit fiddly) so all is well now.
