Laois footballer dropped because he has an opinion on judicial proceedings in NI that may differ from public opinion. May scare sponsers , even though supposed to be an amateur sport.
Yes we have gone full retard folks.
No idiots are allowed to play for laois now. Infact anybody with a different opinion to the group think ( that they put on social media, NOT if they don't) will be punished.
Anybody read the book (about the net and virtue signalling) by I think that baddiel fellow that wrote blackadder. It's coming true now folks : ostracized for having a contrarian view , sidelined, sacked and on to getting lynched by a baying crowd.

Well, really he was dropped because he was purposefully inciting conflict in a incredibly demeaning way at a group of people who are outraged by consistent suffering caused in our law system to victims regarding one of our cultures most heinous crimes.

Group think and political correctness gone mad.

You would have to wonder how many of these social justice warriors would engage in this stuff if there was no

Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Vine, thejournal etc etc.

    All self indulgent righteous indignation.

    No online audience no outrage.

As you get a bit older and a bit of sense you realize how pathetic and self indulgent all these social media campaigns are.

That's your opinion, which you have voiced on social media.

I don't think it was so much his opinion as the crude (and clearly not thought out) and public manner in which he chose to share it with the world....

OP, where have you been the last few years? People have been getting in trouble because of social media for the last few years. This is nothing new.

    That said what a gob****e.

He didn't just express an opinion on the judicial system. He said that the woman at the centre of the trial, should be "destroyed". Bit of a difference there bud.

Just because the jury didn't think it was proven beyond doubt that the scumbags were rapists, doesn't mean they didn't think that she was telling the truth, and the scumbags were rapists.

I see a certain Labour Senator ( can't spell his name) is going to be sued by one of the 4 found not guilty for a defamatory tweet he sent.

People are entitled to their opinion.
..as long as you don't express it or go against the grain.

As long as you don't break the law you should be able to say what you want.

Ricky gervais has been in full pissed off mode the last few week's as some guy was jailed for saying a joke that hurt someone's feelings.

It will soon be like equilibrium where we can't have feelings and just go from a to b doing nothing

Proper order. The 4 guys were found not guilty, yet the mob feels they know better. Nice to see a few of that mob hopefully hit where it hurts...the pocket.

Twitter has gone 'full Spartacus' and #SueMePaddy is currently one of the top trending hashtags. They're gonna need a big court.

Gary Walsh has rightly been dropped.

Not only did he demean a woman in the most disgusting way and showed himself up a neanderthal pig, he incited people to break the law.

The thread title is a pretty good insight of the intelligence, or lack of it, of the OP.

Terrible, isn't it? You can't even incite people to identify and 'destroy' someone without getting dropped from a football game.

No need for a big court, just hit a few for a liable award. Puts manners on the rest of the herd.

Is it provably _false_ that the scumbags are rapists?

They are not going to be keen on litigating this in a court with a different burden of proof.

You are calling the 4 guys rapists, when they have been found not guilty. You are now defaming the character of 4 innocent men ( in the eyes of the law) . That is the only basis a case would be brought against you.

I believe burden of proof is alot lower in a civl case than a criminal one. Or am i mixing that up.

Brilliant. Its just a pity that they are going after a profiled person. Would be much more impactful were they to sue a randomer for a nominal amount.

No, I said the jury might think that the scumbags were rapists, but might also think that it hadn't been proven to the extent required by the law. They might feel it was true on the balance of probabilities, but not beyond reasonable doubt.
