Diane Morgan is great. That accent gets me everytime, I’d watch her even if she wasn’t funny.

Yesssss! (Though it remains to be seen if I'll think the character can sustain a full series of dedicated half-hour slots - hope so :D

ETA - Beeb NornIroner myself, despite my Jackeen location, so haven't seen it yet

Worst character on Screenwipe. So smug and patronising, just taking the piss out of those who don't read the Guardian everyday with their dried seaweed and fappaccino.

    0/10

I have watched this series and it has been fun but not as consistently funny as the Shakespeare and Christmas one

There is the "Jumbo All-in-One Edition" 30 minute repeat on Sunday evening.

New series tonight at 10pm BBC2 (bit later on BBC2NI), this time styled as 'Cunk on Earth'. Tonight she looks at mankinds first civilisations, 'including ones that are difficult to spell like Egypt and Mesopotamia’

Surely those being interviewed are familiar with her by now?

Gaah, was going to watch at 11.15, but forgot that I don't have the NI version of BBC2 (just both versions BBC1)😕

The comments at the bottom of this Guardian review Cunk on Earth review – Diane Morgan’s character is so well-written it’s easy to forget she’s not real | TV comedy | The Guardian would suggest that the interviewee's are in on it, and are just being jolly good sports about it all. Another salient point raised is that they have all been lecturers, tour guides etc in their career and Cunk's questions are no more bizarre than anything they've heard before.

My other theory would be that they are promised to be first in line for potential 'real' interviews on a BBC2/BBC4 program when their specialist area is being treated seriously, if they play along here.

As for this program, thought it was excellent. Everyone will have their own favourite bit, but my laugh out loud moment was her referring to an abacus as 'a bacus'.

    The comment

I worked with an academic who has been Cunked and have spoken to another about it. They know what's going on before filiming, and it gives them a chance to say the things they'd like to say to students who ask similar questions. They're too professional to crack, in most cases, but I bet there are some good outtakes too.

    sounded plausable all right

Came across YouTube uploads for episodes 1 & 2; in case anyone missed them & doesn't have iPlayer access (like myself), and would like a look, they're at (until The Beeb roots roots out and destroys them): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnTO32IWYwU and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iT_DCvCsNcw
