Would be great for a bike trip to Spain and the Pyranees. Id love to do this - been dreaming about something like this for a while.

Has anyone been down around this area, what are the best routes?

Yes would love have some info on biking in Spain, motorway tolls etc

I think a great route would be to land in Santander, drive straight down through Picos de Europa, camp a night around Potes and then drive on through turning left out of the Picos and headiing up to San Sebastian stay another night there and head down the Pyrenees, I met an Aussie guy in Biarritz who was on a Tuono and he had ridden down from Cherbourg, He said it was pretty boring on the M'way but was looking forward to the Pyrenees and that area.
Picos are beautiful and lots of decent elevation changes as well.

The N260 is the classic route on the Spanish side of the Pyrenees. But plenty of fab side routes around it too if you're prepared to some map reading.
On the French choose a few Tour de France stages and cols and stitch a route together between them. Maybe not in July though.

[EDIT] RIDE magazine had had some good supplements on routes. Their website will include route info and gps files.

I went almost the whole way around France a few years ago. Had to get from Cherbourg down to the south to see friends and so with limited time took the motorways which get extremely boring after a while but necessary. When you do go off up into the hills though its amazing, did the Gorge Du Verdon and Route de Napeoleon which was incredible. Mate did the Pyranese and said its brilliant but I didnt fancy the trip down through france on the motorways again so this ferry makes that a lot easier now. Satnav is a must - pretty easy to get your phone mounted with a power cable Id do that, the bike satnavs are pretty expensive.

It's a very useful resource. But I still like to start with a paper map. Michelin maps are great for showing the scenic routes. Also worth looking at a Road Atlas in the library.

This RIDE page has a dedicated section on a Pyrenees tour - France and Spain sides of the border.
"Day5 Banyuls sur Mer to La Pobla de Segur" is a good example of the N260 (easteren section). But there are some great side routes too. Cheap campsites, with bungalows and pool, historic villages perched on an outcrop. Roll on Summer-time!

    [EDIT]
Michelin maps and route finder online. Scenic roads edged with green.
"Bungalow" - Spanish for small, self-catering, cabin on a campsite. For guests with no intention of camping.
