Advice on fitting laminate flooring

I took off skirting on one side of room which allowed me to remove old semi solid floors. Now the new laminate flooring isn't as thick so there is a gap (max 10mm) when I slot new boards underneath skirting that I didn't have to remove (yet)

Can I just put in filler pieces under skirting to prop up floor boards or would they snap the board over time with foot traffic and possible furniture close to it. (With in 100-200mm)

i'd want to keep it flat especially with laminate

Would a few bob on a thicker underlay be a possibility?

I dont think I'd try to prop them up. They might start creaking or cracking.

Could you caulk or silicone around the bottom? Or perhaps lay a strip of wooden beading, quarter circle stuff.

The cleanest but also most expensive solution would be new skirting.

dont put anything under the floor unless its over the whole floor. change skirting or put a strip around to coverr the gap

Ok thanks guys. I'll take off rest of skirting so and lower. I though raising it by 5mm or 8mm round walls might be viable. Thick under lay is good idea too . I'll look into that

If you think it's ok to prop up the laminate, then prop up a short bit of it and stand on it to see what happens, laminate needs a flat surface , otherwise it will break over time on the joints.

You have 2 choices, either use Quadrant which you can get the same colour as the flooring. The professional way is to remove the Skirting and refit it at the end of the job.
Don't forget to allow 8 to 10 mm for expansion.
