Mixing beer and wine

I'm about to literally do it. I've got half a mug of wine left (yes I drink wine in a mug, I find it gives it more room to breath) and I've just cracked open a beer. I'm going to mix them together and see what it tastes like. Has anyone else tried this?

Together? As in the same mug? Can't see the point myself although I have an aunt who likes to dilute red wine with Coca Cola so you know...people.

Never mix the grain and the grape.

    That is all.

Great things are discovered by trying strange things. Just mixed them and it has a wierd red head on it.

    There was this one night.

    Long ago.

I mixed red wine and white wine thinking it made rosé.

Yeah. Don’t do that. Don’t ever do that.

Was it Billy Connolly that asked who was the first man who discovered that you could get milk from cows, and what did he think he was doing at the time when he discovered it

That exact sentence could apply to my first kid.

Just tasted it and it's actually not awful. I lie. It is awful. Ah well, live and learn.

Go for it! I eagerly await the results. You need to mix them in equal measures in a pint glass.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,946 ✭✭✭buried

It not too bad actually. Nice buzz. The beer is Erdinger weissenbeeren. Nice and cloudy and mixes in that Gin berry petrolee goodness.
Later on, the results will probably resemble this lad though. Its half that way there already.

OP, on witnessing the mixing of whiskey and red lemonade in a pub once, a friend of mine asked why the man was ruining two perfectly good drinks.

I'm sure the person saw that babies drink milk from their mothers so knew it was nutritious, and calves suckle so it isn't a huge jump.

As for eggs, plenty of animals eat the eggs of other creature so the could tell they were good to eat, protein and that. (I disagree, though).

I'm sure if times were hard, you'd risk it.

Personally, I used to get a pint glass and fill it with equal parts of Coke, vodka, and Buckfast.

I used to work in a mad bar, lads would drink whatever I horsed up. Worst thing that became a bit of a craze was a 1/4 bottle of wine in a pint glass, topped up with Guinness with a gin in a shot glass dropped in. Ugh, animals!

It rotates into Lidl every couple of months. It's a Polish beer 6% vol and it's not bad at all. It wouldn't be my beer of choice though but maybe it's just lacking gin.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,946 ✭✭✭buried

The Polish beers are generally very nice, nice for the summertime out the garden at BBQ's and that, you might need a burger to go with it never mind the gin! Never seen that before in my local Lidl, will check it out, 6%, can't go wrong with that

Guinness, wine and gin mixed, does the brand of gin really matter!

Never mix the grain and the grape.

    That is all.

Beer before wine makes you feel fine
Wine before beer makes you feel queer

Sounds like drinking out of the King's Cup. I survived a combo of wine, lager, vodka & blackcurrant, Jack Daniels & Coke, Bulmers, and Southern Comfort & red lemonade once. College house parties for the win.
