Belle Cement mixer issue

    Hi,

I picked up a cheap second hand belle minimix 150 cement mixer that is working but giving issues when any load is put into the drum... it basically stops rotating under load after a couple of shovels are placed into it.

Its 110v currently, and im guessing the motor is shot as it starts rotating once the drum is manually turned by hand and stops again. (tried on a couple of different 110v transformers to be sure)

I only need the 220v setup as im not on sites with it, so was going to buy the full replacement 220v motor unit for €100 approx online and swap out.

Im just wondering though before i do this has anyone experienced this same prob before, as im thinking it could be the gear box also or instead?

if it fails to rotate without helping it I would suspect a faulty capacitor, it is located normally strapped on to the motor with uf rating marked on it. those mixers should not be started with a load in the drum

Could it be the belt slipping?

If belt was slipping should hear motor working way ?

Yeah, but OP is a bit vague about this?

Sorry... meant to say it has a new cap in it... no load in it on startup... no probs with motor starting... just under load ot stops with a hum off the motor so not sure if gearbox or motor.

    Belt 100% - no slippage

The mixer arrived to me with a bulged popped capacitor in it which makes me believe it was dogged before.

No gearbox grinding when running also.

sounds like motor failure, ideally if you had a meter to check the amperage the motor is pulling against the amp rating on the motor plate that would tell you immediately .if you replace the motor make a habit of starting the new one without any load on the drum or you will be replacing it again shortly
