I have a palladio composite door (Palermo style) with two window panels, one of which broke and needs replacing. My original installer quoted 900Euros for two new window panels.... one would be 550 but could not get the exact same as I have at the moment....

Has anyone had to replace a window panel and where did you go and how much did it cost?
    I'm based in Dublin 12.

I’d say you could get a new door for that price.

That's what I thought!!! Although I think these days they go for up to 3K.... I've had mine since 2004. When I got it installed I didn't like the palladio window range and had my heart set on a design from artic doors, which my installer sourced for me. But impossible to get this again, hence I need two new ones. :-(

None of my business but is this not covered on your house insurance?

We had a similar thing where the dear beloved decided to leave both doors open and crack. Insurance sent a guy round had it sorted in a fortnight.

Is a "window panel" different from a window?

I had my front room double glazing smashed in a couple of years ago, and the glazing in the front door, and the whole lot cost about €500 to replace by whatever emergency glass bloke I called.

Well it’s a triple glazed glass panel in a composite door. Each glass sheet is different. So it’s not really a window per se.

Sure, but my point is, isn't this just a simple glass replacement job for a glazier?

I'm looking into this now, my first assumption was that I would get the same panel from the door manufacturer as originally bought. I didn't realise this would be such a struggle, and so expensive! That's why boards.ie is so handy, you always get good advice here :-)
I never thought of contacting a glazier!

And it might be covered by a house insurance.. We had panel in back door break a few years ago and insurance paid for it

I installed a new triple glazed window on my composite front door last year because i wanted a design and house number on it . It cost me 90 euro .
Do you have a pic of what you require ? Try Rathmines glass . They're gonna be a lot cheaper than Palladio

Thanks a mill, I will definitely try the glazier route! It it's in the 90 Euro ballpark I won't bother with insurance...
This is more or less what I've got http://www.weatherglaze.ie/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/rush.jpg

I'll get a couple of quotes and take it from there.

    yes it is Palladio .

I was charged 90 euro. But later on the company rep said id gotten a very good deal as theyd charged me cost price and wouldn't do that again except by accident . Someone even came out to fit it and they hadn't costed his labour but my price wasn't changed . A deal was a deal .

However if I hadn't gotten such a good deal. For laminated triple glazed glass with my door number inside it then id have definitely checked put rathmines glass or costed different glazing companies
