Finglas test centre

I've got my test booked for a few weeks, Cat B. I just starting looking at this forum and saw some horror stories about Finglas but also some fine ones. I know the pass rate is pretty atrocious but I feel like this is a high fail rate across the country on average.

I was wondering if someone who has done their test there recently, successfully/unsuccessfully, would mind sharing some stories or experiences? Just to know what to expect. I'd appreciate it (:

Something worth bearing in mind is that you'll read a lot more threads of people angry and complaining about a test centre than you will people praising. Those who pass are more likely to just move on and never post anything online about it than those who are angry/frustrated after failing.

I think the best course of action is to pick your local test centre and ignore that stats. There's a lot of advantages to picking a centre nearer where you're based. Easier to do lessons in the area of the test centre. Easier to practise in that area. And hopefully you will know most junctions and roads like the back of your hand before the test.

    Best of luck with everything.

I passed my test first time in finglas, admittedly a long time ago. I heard the same horror stories you are hearing now about the poor pass rate. Just ignore them. Either you can drive or you can't.

I'm already booked with Finglas so no backing out now! Fair point about those who have passed not needing to vent about their test centre, need to remember that.

    Thanks so much!

There are some horror stories, but like yourself, there are some that have passed and have nothing but praise! Love hearing those stories as well. Thanks.

I did the rigid truck, artic truck, bus and motorcycle tests in Finglas (albeit a long time ago). I failed the rigid truck and the motorcycle test first time but passed on the second occasion. I couldn't find any fault with Finglas but then again, I've nowhere to compare it to.

    Good luck with your test.

I failed twice in Raheny and switched to Finglas for my third test and passed a year ago. I did two pre tests and some lessons to familiarise myself with the area ( I wouldn’t have driven around there too often). I had heard horror stories too but actually found it far easier there compared to Raheny. Best thing is to drive around as much as you can to get used to the roads etc. Good luck!

I love hearing about positive experiences! I've been doing some driving around there and the roads aren't overly complicated (bar some faint/faded lines and tight corners in the estates) so I'll keep doing that. Thank you for the reply!
