Ones a new model in base trim, ones an old model in high spec. Ones from a main dealer, ones from a less reputable seller. Both are uk imports.

    @ Colm Mc

Ah yeah I know Michael Barrable motors, 2011 Kia Ceed was on a test drive today when I called in to have a look see. How do you know that the 2011 is a UK import??

Yes the other 2012 I have been told buyer beware on the dealership

The speedo is in mph with kph on the inner circle. Irish cars would be kph only.

I think I read that the 1.4 engine in the newer model while still the same engine, was changed from over 100hp to under 100hp in order to qualify for the cheaper tax in the UK.

If i'm right a newer 1.4 (possibly turbo??) engine joined the new model lineup at some stage also.

I think there were some issues with the timing chain on the older model, although I guess it's hard to know how widespread it was as I guess only those with issues post on forums. Not sure if this was resolved on the new model. Didn't read of any, but I guess most of the new model sold were diesels. Not aware of other issues with the 1.4 unit. Think they are quite peppy and fuel efficient.

    Others might have more info.

Yes some of them are 89bhp instead of 109 on some Mk1 U.K. models.
The Mk2 were 98bhp. The turbo is 1.0 and not 1.4 - these will be outside budget.

So the 2011 looks the better choice

    Of those two, yes.
The Ceed is due for replacement soon, so the 2011 would be the old old model then.

It's the tensioner that gives problems in regards to the timing chain. Afaik engine damage occurs if it fails.

Was it still an issue on the new model?

    The upcoming model looks nice.

You just know that 2014 for €9k has a colourful past.

Do you need/want a diesel? That other one is an estate as well.

Don't know tbh. Only looked into it when I was looking at them a few years back. Most people I know who own a cee'd/i30 have the diesel version.

Looks like a base model, it has wheel trims and windey windows in the back. Wouldn’t buy there either.
